Capricciosa is an Italian restaurant founded by a Japanese chef, Masaki Honda, who loved Italian cuisine. In 1970, he went to Italy to learn how to cook Italian food. In 1978, he opened his first Italian restaurant in Tokyo, which became popular due to its authentic Italian flavors and generous potions at affordable prices. The Capricciosa in JCube is the first and only outlet in Singapore.
During lunch hours, you can get a "Pasta-holic Super Value Lunch" which consists of a pasta and a soup. The price ranges from $5.90 to $14.90, depending on which pasta you order. I walked in and ordered a Penne in Spicy Tomato Sauce ($5.90) with shrimps and clams for an additional $3.
I was served a bowl of mushroom soup first. I think it is supposed to be mushroom cream soup but to my disappointment, it isn't creamy at all, it is watery.
Then my pasta came. The penne and sauce tastes not bad though not fantastic. I like the prawns, fat and fresh, yummy. The potion of pasta is quite big and I felt very full after finishing the whole plate.
Overall, the soup sucks. The penne in spicy tomato sauce is not bad. The price is relatively cheap for the generous serving.
